NEW HOME, Texas - New Home High School junior, Rayna Epley, has grown up showing goats, and she's going to make a career out of her passion for animals.
Epley began showing goats as a kindergartener. She earned her first buckle in first grade, and she's been improving her showmanship ever since. Epley has traveled across Texas to show her goats, but this year she's even gone to Arizona and Kentucky.
Epley has already shown in San Angelo and San Antonio. She placed in the top five in both but specifically won third and fourth place in San Antonio. She was preparing for the Austin and Houston Livestock Shows next.
Epley said she aspires to go to vet school at Texas Tech. She expressed she wants to continue helping animals, and will likely stay in the South Plains area if given the chance. Through involvement in 4H and FFA Epley is preparing for her future. Epley is part of a Vet Tech program with 4H, and is a District Officer for the FFA Mesa District. She intends to run for Area Officer to kick off her senior year.
